Love Languages: What your partner really wants this Valentine’s Day

This year, Brits are predicted to spend £1.37 billion on Valentine’s Day - seems like an awful lot to spend on some rose petals and choccies right?

While extravagant Valentine’s Day plans might be on the cards for some of us, they might be the complete opposite of what your partner had envisioned. Knowing how to strike the perfect balance between OTT and totally chill is key to getting it right this year.

If you’re struggling to figure out what your significant other will appreciate this Valentine’s Day - maybe you’re a new couple or you didn’t quite nail it last year - it might be time to read a little more into your partner’s love language. From a movie night to a candlelit dinner, here’s how to get it right at home...

Gifts

If your partner loves a little gift now and again, then this year it’s time to pull all the stops out and get your thinking cap on. Set yourself a budget and a maximum number of gifts - maybe one for every year you’ve been together - ensuring you’re being as thoughtful as possible with each one.

Instead of just handing over your gift wrapped pressies, why not try and make it extra special for your partner by setting up a treasure hunt game, providing clues with romantic riddles and rhymes as to where they’re hidden within your room. And if you’ve got a showstopping gift left, add the cherry on top and make sure you give it the attention it deserves by really exaggerating the moment. You might consider attaching the gift to a giant confetti balloon or even placing it under a romantic balloon arch!
